As a result of action taken by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that affects carriers nationwide, Viya’s telephone, wireless and long-distance customers will notice a change in the Federal Universal Service Charge (FUSC) on Oct. 1.
The FUSC surcharge factor recovers the costs associated with the carrier’s contributions to the federal universal fund program. The government-mandated program is designed to help keep service rates affordable for all customers, in all areas of the United States. Effective Oct. 1, 2018, there has been a change in the FUSC surcharge factor from 17.9 percent to 20.10 percent.
For residential telephone customers and single-line business subscribers, the FUSC charge will increase from $1.16 to $1.30. Multi-line telephone business subscribers will also notice a change on their bill from $2.09 to $2.46 per line.
The Access Recovery Charge (ARC) allows Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers to recover a portion of the revenues lost through FCC required reductions to access rates. The ARC for single-line business subscribers will increase from $1.30 to $1.60. The ARC for multi-line business subscribers will also increase from $2.60 to $3.20.
