An unidentified, charred body was found Saturday in the Fortuna Area of St. Thomas by the V.I. Police Department.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a badly burnt vehicle in the Fortuna area near Stumpy Bay. Officers found the severely burnt vehicle that was discovered to be a reported stolen Jeep Wrangler rental.
Upon closer inspection of the vehicle’s interior, the officers discovered a charred human body. The identity of the individual could not be readily determined because of the condition of the vehicle and the human remains.
This case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
It was the 26th homicide for St. Thomas confirmed by the VIPD this year, the 37th in the territory.
