The family of the late Carlton Wakefield Sr. is saddened to announce his passing on April 23 in Lakeland, Florida, at 73 years of age.
Carlton Wakefield Sr. was born and raised in Salisbury, North Carolina, and subsequently came to St. Croix in 1965. He joined the Virgin Islands Police Department in 1967and attained the rank of sergeant before retiring in 1987.
He is survived by his daughters: Beverly Felix, Angela Wakefield, Marlene Reed and Sonia Wakefield; sons: Carlton Jr., Michael, James “PG,” Mark, Erik and Warren Wakefield; grandsons: Michael and Freeston Paul, Louis Armstrong, Shaquon Felix , Carlton III, Jaewon, Michael II, Shimmar, Mclean, Komasi, Izya, James, Adonis, Adrian, Darien and Jordan Wakefield; granddaughters: Aquila Felix, Karcelia Reed, Michelle, Delieda, Shanice, Chante, Allyra, Briana, Leshante, Christina, Oyenna, Zasha ,Shalisha, Shanyra, Janysha, Jasteria, Amaris and Summer Wakefield.
He is also survived by sons-in-law: Aquiles Felix and Joseph Reed; and daughters-in- law: Diana, Althea and Michelle Wakefield.
Other survivors include great-grandchildren: Shekisha, Freeston Jr., Devonte, Natalia, Mikel and Narris Paul, Janirah Williams and Cedalia Smith; special friend, Felicia Andrews.
