Man Shot in Leg During Robbery

Police on St. Croix are investigating a robbery that resulted in a non-fatal shooting Friday in the Harvey housing community, according to the V.I. Police Department.

A 23-year old man was shot in his left leg and taken by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital for treatment. The victim’s name was not released in compliance with a departmernt policy to not identify victim’s of non-fatal incidents.

According to the report, the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Police said the victim was working, repossessing furniture when he and his coworker were approached by two masked and armed men. One of the suspects’ demanded the victims’ possessions and attempted to grab a gold chain from the victim. The victim grabbed the suspects’ hand and the suspect shot him in the leg. Both suspects ran from the scene.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau continue to investigate this case.
