Pedestrian Struck and Killed by SUV

A pedestrian crossing the street Sunday evening was struck and killed by a passing vehicle near Whim Museum, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The Traffic Enforcement Bureau, which is investigating the incident, said the accident occurred at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday. According to the preliminary traffic report, 48-year-old Paul Stanislaus of Estate Barren Spot parked his vehicle on the grass off the eastbound lane of the Queen Mary Highway and began to cross the street. A gray Ford Escape traveling west struck the victim, causing fatal injuries.

Medical personnel on the scene said the victim had no vital signs, and he was later pronounced dead.

According to the report, the investigation is continuing.
