Woman Robbed of Handbag in Sugar Estate

Police on St. Thomas are investigating a first-degree robbery that occurred Saturday in the Sugar Estate Complex, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The victim told officers she was walking to her car after leaving an establishment in the complex when two masked men demanded her handbag.

The robbery took place at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the victim. She said both suspects were masked and carrying handguns.

When the suspects demanded her handbag she started to scream and run, and dropped her handbag. The victim saw one suspect pick it up and both run away, heading east.

The victim could not give any further identification on the suspects.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau are following up on the case.
