David P. Lincoln Dies at 53

David P. Lincoln A memory gathering was held May 22 for Bridgewater, N.Y., resident David Philip Lincoln, who died May 20 after a long illness.
David was born Aug. 7, 1959, in Syracuse, N.Y. At age 10, he moved with his family to Saint Thomas. He graduated with the All Saints Cathedral School Class of 1977 and from Bentley College. He worked 18 years for Marriott’s food services and later for a gemstone dealer in Boston.
He was known to family, friends and gem show dealers as Purple Dave. He loved being in action. Starting young, he managed a little league team, juggled, played backgammon at Hotel 1829, climbed rocks beach-to-beach on the northside of St. Thomas, and climbed Adirondack peaks. He was an avid number cruncher for fun, and knew baseball stats and Guinness records by heart. Later he took up skydiving, whitewater rafting, caving and digging for precious stones.
He is survived by his father, Philip Lincoln, of Bridgewater; his mother, Shirley Lincoln, of St. Thomas; brothers: Daniel, Andrew and Gavin; sister, Skye; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
