V.I. Education Commissioner Dr. LaVerne Terry is encouraging the general public to report any misuse of the department’s federal funding to the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of the Inspector General, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the V.I. Department of Education.
In an effort to continue meeting the mandates of the Compliance Agreement between the U.S. Department of Education and the V.I. government, Education is required to publicize the toll-free telephone numbers that residents can use to call in any misuse or fraud.
“These numbers are available to all schools, teachers, parents, and participants of the adult and vocational programs, VIDE employees, all government agencies and other interested stakeholders,” Terry said.
The numbers are:
U.S. Department of Education-Office of the Inspector General: 1-800-MISUSED
U.S. Department of the Interior-Office of the Inspector General: 1-800-424-5081
