St. Croix Unified for Community, Culture, Environment and Economic Development Inc. (SUCCEED Inc.) has collaborated with the St. Croix Environmental Association (SEA) on the project STXAHEAD (St. Croix Action for Heritage and Economic Development) to inform and mobilize the St. Croix community to embrace the social and economic benefits of "smart growth" and international geo-tourism, and to produce materials in support of action for cultural, heritage and eco-tourism. This project is funded by a grant from the Department of Interior, Office of Insular Affairs.
One of STXAHEAD’s objectives is to provide information on "smart growth,” geo-tourism and St. Croix’s potential niche and related business opportunities. As such, the organizations are organizing a series of community forums in March to engage the community in this process.
The dates, time and venues are as follows:
1. Tuesday, March 13, at UVI Great Hall (Albert Sheen Campus/St. Croix)
2. Thursday, March 15, at the Claude O. Markoe Elementary School
auditorium
3. Tuesday March 20, at the Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School auditorium
All sessions will be held from 6:30 to 8:30pm. About 75-100 residents are expected at each forum.
