DOA Announces Abbatoir Rescheduling for March 6

The abattoir slaughtering schedule for Tuesday, March 6, at the St. Croix abattoir has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 8. Normal hours of operation will be in effect, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, according to a press release issued Thursday by the V.I. Department of Agriculture.
According to Agriculture Commissioner Louis E. Petersen Jr., “The rescheduling is due to our annual National Agriculture Week Open House, which is scheduled for March 8, 2012 at the Rudolph E. Shulterbrandt Agriculture Complex at Estate Lower Love on St. Croix.”
The open house will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will feature hay baling and land preparation demonstrations, in addition to informative presentations from staff in the veterinary service, forestry, nursery, farm machinery repair and abattoir divisions.
VIDOA management and staff regret any inconvenience this scheduling change may cause, and invite the entire community to attend the open house. For further information, call 778-0998.
