Pistarckle Holds Audtions for “Berlin to Broadway”

Pistarckle Theater announces Auditions for “Berlin to Broadway.” They will be held from 3-5 p.m. on both Saturday, Feb. 18 and Sunday, Feb. 19, at the theater in Tillet Gardens. Everyone knows “Mack the Knife,” made popular by Bobby Daren, but Kurt Weill’s music resonates and enchants far beyond that song with brilliantly moving works like “September Song,” “Surabaya, Johnny” and “Saga of Jenny.”
The life and times of one of the most extraordinary artists of the 20th century is the subject of this musical voyage through the career of composer Kurt Weill. Weill’s greatest theatre works are presented in a fluid blend of song and story spanning 20 eventful years. Along the way, he created some of the most popular and daring musical theatre pieces of his day, collaborating with a dazzling array of literary giants, including Bertolt Brecht, Langston Hughes, Maxwell Andersen, Alan Jay Lerner and Ira Gershwin, and blurring the boundary between "serious" and "popular" music.
Up to 10 singers are needed: sopranos, mezo-sopranos, tenors, alto’s and bass/baritones, and one non-singing narrator role. Ages teen to adult are welcome. Singers need to move well, but minimal dancing is required. Singers should come with a prepared song. An accompanist will be available.
