Territorial public school teachers and paraprofessionals are advised that the Department of Education will pay 100 percent of the tuition costs and associated fees for one, three-credit course at the University of the Virgin Islands during the upcoming spring 2012 semester, Human Resources Director Dayna M. Clendinen announced on Tuesday.
All courses offered to paraprofessionals will be at the undergraduate level, while courses offered to teachers can either be at the graduate or undergraduate level. The sign-up period will be between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday, Nov. 14 through Monday, Nov. 21. Teachers must enroll in courses leading to certification or recertification, while paraprofessionals must enroll in education courses or other courses leading to an education degree.
“Due to the limited number of available courses, interested individuals are asked to act quickly as the selections will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis. No phone sign-ups will be allowed. Individuals are further reminded that course textbooks are their sole responsibility and reimbursement to the department will be required in the event they fail a course,” said Dayna M. Clendinen.
