Granville Alphonso Milligan Sr. Dies at 89

Granville Alphonso Milligan Sr. of Smithfield died on May 7, at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was 89 years old.
He leaves behind his sons: Henry A. Milligan Sr. and Granville A. Milligan Jr.; daughters: Judith O., Marcia I., Germaine C., Marjorie C., and Florette P. Milligan; grandchildren: Trinisia M. Jones, Henry Jr., Howard Sr., Halik, Hamin, Hanik, Hawil, Hamilia, Hanil, Hamili, Jamal, Joseph, Melanie, Mahalaya, Malaya, Hamid Milligan (Henry), Kenneth, Jabari, Ronald Jr., Okeya, Okimo, Ayana Milligan (Ronald), Alvin, Miriam Milligan (Judith), Jelanie, Sherika, Shakirah Ritter (Marcia), KIture Burke Jr., Hanif, Kamal, Kenoy Wathey (Germaine), Afiya Buffong, Kareem, Reeva Riviere (Majorie), Thema, Themal Lake, Maureeke Greenidge (Florette), Akeelah, Destinie and Shakeel Milligan (Granville); and numerous great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by frothers: Alvin R. Milliganand Allen Milligan; sisters: Leona M. Garvey, Eleanor, Ethel-may Milligan; nephews: Aibrey, Rudy, Magella, Ricardo, Kenneth A., Kenneth, Raymond Milligan, Lloyd Gravey and Donald Ross; nieces: Patricia Smith-Hicks, Gloria Garvey, Rita, Leola, Virginia Milligan and Robyn Ross; sisters-in-law: Ione c. Milligan, Laurelleen E. Knight, Justina E. Rawlins, Idalia P. Richards and Clementina E. Knight; brother-in-law, Ira A. Edwards; godchildren: Dalwin Pennyfeather and Donna Miller; and cousins: Babara, Nolia, Dr. Rosie, Mark, Kevin, Edward, Orlando, Alphonso, Jean, Michael, Joseph, Milligan Jr., Hortense Milligan Sackey-Rowe, Dr. Catherine Milligan-Terell, Angel Milligan-Bates, Mavis, Orville, Theresa Armstrong, Erroll Clarke, Marion Jackson-Christian, Mildred Jackson-Ptersen, Norman Carr, Julius Jackson and Dorothy Carr-Reese.
Other survivors include friends: Franz E. Delemos, Urla Lindesay-Isaac, Malcolm Richards, Mary Pennyfeather, Ivy Bread, Clarice Saunders, Calvin, Gladys Perkins, Maude Roberts, Thomas Alfredo Johnson, Neville Cummings, Irose Spooner, Iris H. Hurley, Ethleen Edwards, Eugene Mcbean, Ralph P. Johnson, Marion Lynch-Moor, Emmeth, Gwendolyn Fludd, Ivan Stanley-McIntosh, Alphonso Franklin, Lena Schulterbrandt, Joseph King, and members of Post No 133 American and Auxiliary; as well as other friends and family too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday May 18, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at Frederiksted Cemetery.
