Registration is ongoing for the St. Croix Parent University Program classes that are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Feb. 8. Classes will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the St. Croix Career and Technical Education Center, according to a press releasefrom Janet Brow, St. Croix District schools community relations director.
“The Parent UniversityProgram will again offer literacy and writing classes, math classes and technology classes for our parents in addition to a broad variety of topics relating to raising children, education and social issues affecting families,” she said. “During this series of classes a selection of classes will be available in Spanish for members of our Hispanic community. Additionally, we now have highly qualified teachers providing homework assistance and tutoring services.”
Free transportation, child care services including homework assistance, tutoring and the serving of a hot meal continues. Interested persons can obtain applications at the district’s schools, the Department of Education headquarters at 2133 Hospital Street, Traxco, the Office of Paternity and Child Support, or at any St. Croix Fire Station.
