Almeric Greenidge Dies at 53

Almeric “Ricky” Greenidge, age 53, was born on Dec. 20, 1956, and departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010. He was born and raised in Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I. and upon his departure resided at 3Q Catherine’s Rest. He attended Juanita Guardine Grammar School, Elena Christian Junior High School and Central High School. He enjoyed his work at the Virgin Islands Housing Authority and worked there for approximately 21 years as an equipment operator.
Almeric was born to the late Ruth Leona Jones and Thomas Greenidge and was preceded in death by his brother David Irvington Gordon Greenidge and nephew Gerald Herbert Jr. He is survived by his great uncle, Noel Greenidge; brothers: Gerald Herbert (Sandra) (N.Y.), Lester Greenidge, Reginald “Reg” Naughton, Hugo, Norman, Glenwood, Raphael and Wendell Greenidge: sisters: Marilyn Ferris (N.Y.), Dr. Ingrid E. Naughton, (Md.), Thelma, Sandra and Jacqueline Greenidge; nephews: Stanley Powell (N.J.), Aubrey Powell (N.J.), KyJuan Naughton, and Reginald Naughton; and nieces: Dorette Petersen Shirden (N.J.), Sharisma Naughton and Shaliqua Naughton. He is also survived by more nephews and nieces, relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Ricky was an incredibly special human being, who had an immense love for animals, specifically, horses and dogs. He enjoyed listening to music and loved to greet those with whom he came into contact with the most genuine and captivating smile. Thus, he was nicked named “Mr. Photogenic.” While he loved that others noticed his photogenic smile, and he answered to his household name, He will be missed by many, but will be mostly missed by his brother, Reg.
May his soul rest in peace, and may the God who spoke to Moses in the days of old remember His promise, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion (Exodus 33:19; Romans 9:15).” Great is thy faithfulness, oh God!
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 31, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with viewing at 9 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
Funeral Arrangements are by James Memorial Funeral Home Inc.
