For fans of Tempo, the pan-Caribbean entertainment and music network, getting to the Nov. 15 "Tempo Turns 4" concert at St. Croix’s Randall "Doc" James Racetrack just got a little easier.
Tempo has arranged hotel, car rental and transportation discounts so fans from neighboring islands can come to St. Croix and "feel de Tempo!"
Club Comanche Hotel, located in a historic building on Strand Street in downtown Christiansted, will offer concert-goers a special room rate of $85 per night, plus tax. Those who want to take advantage of the special can call the hotel directly at 340-773-0210.
Budget Rent-A-Car on St. Croix will make it easy to get from hotel to the racetrack and other areas on island with a Tempo special, which can be arranged by calling 340-778-4663 or 340-778-9636, or by visiting www.budgetstcroix.com and insert Tempo 4 in the remarks section.
Residents of St. Thomas, St. John and the British Virgin Islands can connect to VI Sea Trans for boat service to and from St. Croix. VI Sea Trans will make a special run for the event, departing from St. Thomas at 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 14. The boat will depart from St. Croix, back to St. Thomas, at 6 a.m. Nov. 15.
Sea Flights, a sponsor of "Tempo Turns 4," will continue to make its rate of $70 each way available for transportation between St. Croix and St. Thomas. Travelers can call Sea Flights at 340-714-3000.
"Tempo Turns 4" kicks off at 4 p.m. Nov. 14 with a live televised event on WTJX-TV 12, including performances by St. Croix talents Black Star Band, Empress Nyingro, Bobo Ites, X-Kaliba, Rankin, Harry Mo, Selecta Saigon, Cool & Deadly Sound System, and Fyah Emblem. There will be prizes and giveaways, including the chance to win two round-trip LIAT Airline tickets to anywhere LIAT flies in the Caribbean.
The main show gets under way at 7 p.m. with Shabba Ranks, Tarrus Riley, Gramps Morgan, Iwer George, N’Klabe, Ce’Cile, Ziggy Rankin, Omari, UMB Soldiers, Mada Nile, Cherise King and DJ Poppy Pops.
Tickets are $35 general admission, $45 bleacher section, and $125 VIP. Ticket outlets include:
