Alert: Airport Road Closed at Night for Repairs

Sept. 25, 2007 – The exit lane from the Cyril E. King Airport will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The VI Waste Management Authority and its contractor, H&R Mechanical, will be replacing a 30-inch ductile iron sewer line with a 30-inch PVC line. The area will be compacted to the specifications of the VI Department of Public Works and paved over the weekend, a release from VIWMA said.
Motorists exiting the airport will be detoured through the Sub Base area. The west-bound entrance to the airport will not be impacted by the work. Motorists entering the airport road eastbound on Julian Jackson Drive will have to either go up to the Moravian traffic light, turn around and come back through the westbound lane or use the entrance through Sub Base.
All motorists are asked to reduce vehicular speed, adhere to all posted signs, and be aware of the crews and heavy equipment working in the area.
