April 4, 2003 The Woman's Coalition kicks off its 11th annual Tennis Classic next weekend, April 10-13.
The event serves a dual purpose for the Coalition it promotes awareness of the organization's work for battered women and children, and it raises funds. Last year, the tournament raised more than 10,000 for the nonprofit group.
The tournament attracts tennis players from the Virgin Islands and the U.S. mainland, and it includes seven different categories of single-elimination play. Trophies are awarded to all winners and finalists.
To participate in the tournament, entry fee is $30 per person for one event and $35 per person for two events. The deadline to enter is Monday, April 7, at the host site, the Buccaneer Hotel Tennis Club.
The tournament begins Thursday with a welcome cocktail party and concludes April 13th with an awards banquet.
