TWO DIE IN SEPARATE ST. THOMAS AUTO ACCIDENTS

Dec. 23, 2002 – Two individuals have lost their lives in car accidents on St. Thomas in the last three days.
On Friday, Raymond Vater was fatally injured on Friday when his vehicle overturned at the Mafolie intersection. According to Deputy Police Chief Theodore Carty, Vater "sustained multiple injuries" and died at Roy L. Schneider Hospital.
Early Monday morning, Enrique Ashby, 32, of Estate Mandahl was killed when the Toyota 4 Runner he was driving eastbound on Weymouth-Rhymer Highway hit a rock at about 1:43 a.m. The vehicle overturned and Ashby was crushed under the passenger door. "He sustained massive head injuries," Carty said.
Carty said it will not be known until autopsies are conducted whether alcohol was involved in either accident.
