'STEPPING INTO BLACK HISTORY' AT TUTU PARK MALL

Feb. 16, 2002 – "Step Into Your History Celebrating Black History" at Tutu Park Mall will feature students from several elementary and high schools at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
Students who have been practicing step routines for the past month will interpret the significance and pride behind black history, according to a Tutu Park Mall release. They will vie for a title and cash prizes, with points awarded for time, appearance, step routine, and lyrics.
"People from all parts of the community … have become involved in different ways to ensure the success of this event," said Pamela Morales, the mall's marketing director. Call 775-4658 for more information.
Earlier in the day Sigma Theta Omega Sorority will present a Black Arts Festival, presenting dance, drama, music, poetry, drawing and painting to interpret black history.
