For the second time this year, the Senate chambers will be used for a press conference, as Senate Vice President Adelbert Bryan has called a press briefing for 10 a.m. Friday to discuss the "whole story" regarding St. Croix radio personality Mario Moorhead's contract with the 24th Legislature.
In January, the majority bloc senators called a press conference in chambers to announce their legislative agenda.
Bryan and Sen. Alicia "Chucky" Hansen announced last week they had hired Moorhead to broadcast Senate sessions and their committee hearings live and to provide commentary on those and selected other legislative proceedings. It is not known at this time which radio station(s) will carry the broadcast.
The two-year contract is for $30,000 a year to be split between Bryan and Hansen. The contract calls for Moorhead to be paid up front, and the Avis reported last week that Bryan personally picked up Moorhead's first check from the Finance Department in early February.
Hansen said Tuesday evening she would not hold a press conference, as Bryan would cover the subject Friday.
