BLACK HISTORY MONTH PROGRAM TO HONOR SIX

St. John residents are invited to a celebration of Black History Month in Cruz Bay Park on Sunday, Feb. 25, that will include tributes to six St. Johnians for their contributions to the community.
The Office of the St. John Administrator, in conjunction with the St. John staff of the Department of Housing, Parks and Recreation, is hosting the program, which will begin at 4 p.m.
Roy Watlington, interim chancellor of the University of the Virgin Islands St. Thomas campus, will be the speaker. The program will include music by the Love City Pan Dragons, Youths in Action, the Nazareth Lutheran Church choir and soloist Beverly Penn; a performance by the Unity Dancers of St. John; and a recitation by Kamari Lewis.
Island residents to be honored are Marjorie Christian, George January, Gerda Marsh, Marie Matthias, Robert O'Connor Sr. and Hilton Sprauve.
