EAST ANNUAL MEETING SUNDAY

"Rebuilding in 2001," is the focus of the Environmental Association of St. Thomas-St. John annual meeting 2 p.m. Sunday at Palms Court Harborview.
Sonia Nelthropp, technical assistant of the Department of Public Works, will be the guest speaker. She will discuss the territory's water and waste management plans.
EAST President Carla Joseph said, "Thousands of Virgin Islanders share EAST goals . . . but we need to rebuild with more community support." Joseph said the organization's effectiveness in tackling issues which adversely affect the environment is dependent on its membership. She encouraged any person "concerned about preserving our environment" to attend the meeting.
In the past year, EAST has provided testimony before the legislature and other groups on critical initiatives impacting the environment. The organization has also organized whale-watches and conducted educational eco-camps.
For further information, call Joseph at 774-8816.
