Certified results of the Nov. 7 election, including absentee votes, were released late Monday by Supervisor of Elections John Abramson Jr.
The results from St. Thomas show Sen. Lorraine Berry with a total of 5,146 votes, 26 more than Sen. George Goodwin's 5,120. The contest had been the subject of a lawsuit Goodwin brought against the Board of Elections earlier this month.
Territorial Court Judge Ishmael Meyers ruled against Goodwin Wednesday, a week after Meyers heard two full days of testimony from witnesses including other senators who challenged the absentee ballots on grounds that they weren't postmarked, were counted after election day and were unsealed.
Meyers, in a 17-page memorandum, concluded that Goodwin had failed to show that any of the alleged irregularities challenged would change the outcome of the election. "Goodwin is not entitled to mandamus relief," the judge said.
On St. Croix, Sen. Vargrave Richards was tied with Raymond "Usie" Richards at 3,936 votes in the general election. The absentee votes put Vargrave Richards ahead by 25 votes, with a total of 4,083 to Raymond Richards's 4,058. Despite a request by Raymond Richards to refrain from certifying the votes until after Goodwin's case was resolved, St. Croix Election Board chairman Dodson James said the process would continue.
