WICO: NO FALLOUT FROM AIRLINE SLOWDOWN

The "sickout" staged by American Airlines pilots didn't slow down the cruise ship passengers. In fact, the numbers on some days during the week of the slowdown exceeded expectations.
The management of the West Indian Co. Ltd. had concerns about how the passenger numbers would be affected by the pilots' action.
Edward Thomas, president and CEO of WICO, said, "We knew of concern in the business community that travelers may not have reached points of embarkation in Florida and Puerto Rico." And WICO was carefully monitoring the situation.
Thomas said, in a release Friday, that in most instances, there were more than the average number of passengers, noting even the "Jubilee," a smaller vessel, had exceeded its usual number of passengers.
