The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises residents that construction on the Coastal Interceptor Relocation Project will begin Tuesday, May 30.
Traffic will be impacted on the back road from 5-Corners to Breezes Restaurant. Two-way traffic will remain in effect; however, motorists are asked to reduce their speed and proceed with caution in the area.
SD&C Inc. will be performing the work, which involves the relocation of a 1,918 linear- foot submerged wastewater pipeline, further inland to reduce infiltration and improve water quality. The overall scope involves the installation of a new pump station, piping and manholes. The section along the public road consists of the installation of one manhole and 1200 linear feet of 4- and 6-inch piping.
This project is federally funded by a V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Authority (VITEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant, and the work is expected to take three weeks to complete.
