The Division of Personnel and the Office of Management and Budget informs the public that the next cohort of the Government of the Virgin Islands (GVI) Financial Fellows Program is seeking candidates. The program is a two-year, entry-level position with three to six-month rotations in various agencies within the Government of the Virgin Islands.
During the two-year program, individuals will complete challenging rotational assignments under the supervision of an assigned departmental fellowship coordinator.
GVI Financial Fellows are full-time employees with the same benefits as other GVI employees. Fellows will work alongside a mentor who will guide them through a range of assignments, training and professional developmental opportunities. In the second year of the fellowship, candidates will be responsible for identifying and completing a business challenge project that addresses a critical issue in the Government of the Virgin Islands.
Upon successful completion of the program, fellows will have the opportunity to seek full-time employment within any GVI agency.
Application Process:
The GVI Financial Fellows Program will begin accepting applications on May 27, and the application deadline is Aug. 16. To be considered, all interested candidates must sign up and submit their applications through the website at www.dopusvi.org/careers. There are limited slots available for this cohort, so please ensure submissions are completed by the application deadline of 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16.
Qualifications:
All applicants for this program must have a bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university obtained within the last three years. Disciplines of study for this program include Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Project Management, Statistics and Economics.
The Division of Personnel, in collaboration with its partner agencies, is happy to continue offering this invaluable opportunity. The fellows will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of government operations and local issues while acquiring significant professional experience essential for career advancement.
The GVI Financial Fellows Program is confident that each fellow will gain substantial expertise through on-the-job training, rotational assignments, shadowing opportunities and formal training programs. Additionally, they will learn to develop and implement innovative solutions within the workplace.
This initiative is a win-win situation for both the candidates and the Government of the Virgin Islands. It provides the practical experience often required for young professionals entering the workforce while positioning the Government of the Virgin Islands as an employer of choice.
