Delta Flight Grounded at King Airport

A Delta Airlines flight originating in Atlanta was grounded at Cyril E. King Airport Friday night because of a possible bird strike.

According to V.I. Port Authority head Kenn Hobson, the plane landed on St. Thomas safely, and there were no reports made to the control tower about any flight problems. He said mechanics from St. Thomas Jet Center subsequently inspected the plane and found that the blades appeared to be damaged.

Delta mechanics will be flying in from Atlanta to assess the damage and determine whether or not it hit a bird during the trip, Hobson said.
