Woman Killed in Apparent Traffic Accident

While gathering evidence at the scene of an apparent traffic accident on St. Thomas Saturday, police determined that the woman they found lying at the side of Bolongo Bay Road had been hit by a large vehicle and suffered massive head trauma.
A police officer driving in the area discovered the woman’s lifeless body around 6 p.m. Saturday. A St. Thomas resident appeared at the scene while police were processing it, and said he believed he hit the woman with his truck, but was "not aware of it at the time," according to a Police Department press release.
Police questioned the man, whose name has not yet been released, and confiscated his vehicle.
An autopsy has been scheduled. VIPD’s Traffic Investigation Bureau is following up on the case, and will reveal the exact cause of the accident once the investigation is finished, according to the release.
