V.I. CARIFTA TRACK TEAM SHAPING UP

The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation is finalizing its National CARIFTA Track and Field team, which will compete in Grenada April 21-24.
The competition is for males and females under 17 and under 20. Leading the qualifiers are Evelise Gomez for the girls under 17. She won the 200 meters, the 400 meters and 800 meters races at the trials. Adrian Durant is probable for the male under 17 sprinters.
Laverne Jones, Natalie O'Neal, Kadi Joseph, Xamara Gomez are the likely qualifiers for the females under 20. Ramon McIntosh, Rodney Pitts and Lawrence Lockhart III are the two males under 20 to compete: McIntosh and Pitts in the 100 and 200 meters and Lockhart in the 1500 meters. Devon Peters of the St.Croix Educational Complex will be the National Coach for the Virgin Islands.
