Dec. 9, 2002 Local music artists may have their chance to be discovered at the talent exhibition being presented by V.I. Music Jamz on Saturday, Dec. 21, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Mark C. Marin Center on St. Thomas. Local artists will have the opportunity to meet the movers and hit makers of the music industry.
Industry representatives from MTV, Universal/Track Masters Records, Columbia Records, One to One Records, and Koch/In the Paint Records will be there to potentially discover new talent and sign acts.
"I know that the Virgin Islands has tremendous talent here," Alma Francis, V.I. Music Jamz marketing director, said. "It is just a matter of giving them the proper exposure."
Application deadline is Dec. 16. Applications can be picked up at all Modern Music locations, Record Town In TuTu Park Mall, Parrotfish Records, Smith Ferry Services on St. Thomas and Tortola, and Hertz/Paris Car Rental on St. John.
The talent showcase is sponsored by Sapphire Beach Resort, JLS Professional Services, and Hertz/Paris Car Rental. A weekly radio show has been launched on Saturdays from 1-2 p.m. on 105 Jamz that exposes local talent to the airwaves and encourages them to participate in the talent forum.
