Dec. 16, 2002 – In another month, it will be illegal to sell fish commercially along the roadside, or to do so on private property without the requisite permits and licenses, according to a Planning and Natural Department release distributed Monday.
The prohibition coincides with the opening of the new Mid-Island Fish Market. The facility "will be available to all commercial fishermen needing a place to vend their catch," the release stated, and all such persons now selling on the roadside should apply for bays.
Applications are now being accepted, and the forms to be submitted are available at the division office at 6003 Estate Anna's Hope, where division staff will provide assistance, if needed, with completing them. For further information, call 773-5774.
Effective Jan. 16, the release stated, "all roadside vending of commercial fish on personal/private property and/or without the proper permit and licenses will be considered an illegal and prohibited activity!"
