The competitive spirit is alive and well as our high school athletes prepare for the first basketball tournament of the new year. This year’s IAA/MLK Jr. Tournament will be held at UVI’s Elridge W. Blake Sports & Fitness Center.
The tournament will host seven Boys teams from St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix and British Virgin Islands: Charlotte Amalie, Antilles, Ivanna Eudora Kean, Gifft Hill School, Central High, St. Croix Educational Complex and Elmore Stoutt High School. There will be 5 girls teams competing: Charlotte Amalie, Antilles, Ivanna Eudora Kean, Central High and St. Croix Educational Complex.
McDonald’s is the title tournament sponsor for the tenth consecutive year in partnership with the St. Thomas-St. John Interscholastic Athletic Association (IAA). Arcos Dorados, the company that operates all McDonald’s restaurants in the US Virgin Islands, supports youth sports, employment, education and diversity programs as part of its corporate commitment to the local communities they serve.

The IAA/McDonald’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Invitational Basketball Tournament games start 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 and continue daily starting at 10 a.m. throughout the weekend with championship games scheduled for Sunday, January 19th at 10:00am.
