Gov. Bryan Honors Jeth B. Rey on Promotion to Lieutenant General

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of Virgin Islander Jeth B. Rey, who has been promoted to Lieutenant General in the United States Army. This historic promotion marks LTG Rey as the second Virgin Islander in recent history to reach this distinguished rank, culminating a stellar 42-year military career filled with groundbreaking accomplishments.

LTG Rey, who has achieved 17 promotions and worn 18 ranks, is the most promoted soldier in the U.S. Army since World War IIโ€”a feat that reflects his extraordinary dedication, leadership, and service. Previously serving as the Director of the Network Cross-Functional Team at the Army Futures Command, LTG Rey will now assume a critical role as the principal military advisor to the Army’s Chief of Staff and Chief Information Officer, where he will oversee global command, control, communications, cyber operations, and networks.

Governor Bryan highlighted the significance of LTG Reyโ€™s achievements, celebrating both his professional success and the values he embodies as a proud Virgin Islander. The Governorโ€™s remarks reflect the deep pride and inspiration LTG Reyโ€™s journey brings to the Virgin Islands community and beyond:

“Lieutenant General Jeth B. Reyโ€™s career is a story of perseverance, excellence, and the power of determination. His ascent through the ranks of the United States Army is a source of immense pride for the people of the Virgin Islands. His service to our nation and his remarkable leadership embody the values that define who we are as Virgin Islandersโ€”resilient, driven, and deeply committed to making a difference. LTG Rey is not only a distinguished military leader but also a shining example of the greatness our community can achieve.”

“We honor not only LTG Reyโ€™s incredible dedication but also the unwavering support of his family, who have been steadfast in their encouragement throughout his journey. Together, they remind us that behind every great achievement is a foundation of love, unity, and sacrifice. Their collective strength mirrors the enduring spirit of the Virgin Islands.”

Patrick Farrell, Director of the Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs, also shared his thoughts on this momentous occasion:

โ€œIn concert with Governor Albert Bryan Jr., I too extend my heartfelt congratulationsย to Lieutenant General Jeth Rey on his promotion and assumption of responsibility as Deputy Chief of Staff / G-6 within the United States Army,โ€ said Farrell.

โ€œThis milestone stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication, leadership, and service to our nation. As a Virgin Islander and Army retiree, it was a pleasure to witness the United States Armyโ€™s Chief of Staff General Randy George, administer LTG General Reyโ€™s oath of office, which was immediately followed by the pinning of his new rank by his wife Carla, and son Jeth Jr. The support from Virgin Islanders was also evident by the in-person representation at the ceremony.

โ€œLTG Rey, your journey exemplifies the highest ideals of military excellence and perseverance, inspiring all who have the privilege of witnessing and benefiting from your legacy. I wish you continued success as you take on this critical role and shape the future of our Armyโ€™s communications and technology capabilities. Congratulationsย again, and thank you for your remarkable service.โ€

From his roots in the Virgin Islands to one of the highest ranks in the United States Army, LTG Reyโ€™s journey is a testament to what can be achieved with determination and vision. His story inspires Virgin Islanders everywhere to pursue their dreams and aim for the highest levels of success.

Bryan encourages all Virgin Islanders to join in celebrating this historic milestone and to reflect on the immense pride LTG Rey has brought to his home territory.
