St. Croix Woman Wanted for Forgery Now in Custody

A St. Croix woman wanted for forgery is now in custody, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On Sept. 8, 2023, detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into Laurissa S. Knight. The investigation revealed that on or about Aug. 4, 2023, Knight received a check for $11,808.48 from Guardian Insurance Company, payable to Mid-Island Federal Credit Union and herself. Knight forged the signature of Mid-Island Federal Credit Union to cash the check at Banco Popular, where she possessed the forged instrument, according to the police report.

At approximately 11:52 a.m. on Wednesday, detectives executed an arrest warrant for Knight, 37, for forgery and possession of forged instruments without incident, the police report stated.

Knight was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Police Operation Building, where she was
processed and booked. Bail was set at $5,500. Knight was unable to post bail and was
transported to John A. Bell Correctional Facility pending her advice of rights hearing, the report stated.
