Click It or Ticket Campaign Set for Sept. 19 – 26

The Virgin Islands Office of Highway Safety has partnered with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to encourage drivers to fasten their seat belts in anticipation of the national Click It or Ticket high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign, which will take place from Sept. 19 to Sept. 26. This initiative will coincide with Child Passenger Safety Week, the agencies announced.

The Traffic Investigation Bureau across the territory will conduct enforcement initiatives along the territorial roadways, including, but not limited to, Routes 30, 32, 38, and 40 on St. Thomas, Routes 10 and 20 on St. John, and Routes 75, 70, 708, 681, 68, 62, 60, 682, 79, 72, 66, 64, 652, and Route 707 on St. Croix, according to the press release.

Enforcement efforts may focus on the use of restraint systems by infants, children, and adults in accordance with Title 20 section 466 of the Virgin Islands Code. However, officers are required to address other traffic infractions, including, but not limited to, unregistered and uninsured vehicles, tinted windshields, license plate infractions, and impaired driving, the press release stated.
