Dale A. Gibbs Dies at 72

Dale A. Gibbs

Dale A. Gibbs of Estate Richmond passed away on Sept. 2 at the Governor Juan Luis Hospital on St. Croix. He was 72 years old.

Dale was an early environmentalist, working diligently to collect used aluminum cans and transporting them to the now-closed aluminum recycling plant in Peter’s Rest. He was aided in his endeavor by his dear friend Leroy Henry.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Renceliar (Renny) Gibbs; and his Irish twin, Sheron Gibbs-Ramdhanny. Sheron and Dale were born less than two years apart making them Irish twins and causing them to grow up close together.

He is survived by his mother. Maria Pinder; brothers: Raphael James, Patrick Gibbs and Norman Gibbs (deceased); sisters: Eleanor Johnson, Rena Brodhurst, Lillian Pinder, Sande D. Gibbs and Sheron Ramdhanny (deceased); nieces: Maria Ramdhanny and Britney Hall; great-nieces: Danielle Bryant, Tyanna Johnson, Kelisha Johnson and Jenai Johnson.

He is also survived by nephews: John Ramdhanny Jr., Harold Johnson Jr., Lasiba Knight and Dwayne Renny Ramdhanny (deceased); great nephews: Dwayne Anthony Ramdhanny, Kimani Johnson, King Tipton, John Ramdhanny III, Aaydin Johnson and Braxton Hall; great-great nephews: Phillip Bryant and Preston Bryant; andspecial friend, James Williams (aka Jett).

The viewing will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Divine Funeral Home Chapel in Peter’s Rest, Christiansted, St. Croix. The funeral service will commence at 10 a.m.
