Woman Arrested for Tasing her Minor Child

A female minor reported to police officers that she was assaulted by her mother, Willichia Hughes March 13, 2024, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The minor stated that during an argument her mother utilized a taser and shocked her approximately three times in her upper torso according to the report. The minor was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Hughes, a 37-year-old, agreed to turn herself in to the Domestic Violence Unit Friday. She was booked, processed, and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advice of rights hearing Monday, the report stated.

This case is currently under investigation by the Domestic Violence Unit. Anyone having information about this crime can notify 911, the Domestic Violence Unit at 340-715-5534, 340-715-5536, or the Office of the Police Chief.
