Elza Arlette Olive Duinkerk Dies at 78

Elza Arlette Olive Duinkerk

Elza Arlette Olive Duinkerk was born on Feb. 14, 1945 and died on Nov 10, 2023.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Isolina Olivia Flanders Fortuno; father, Edmond Henri Philogène Fortuno; and sister, Mercedes Fortuna.

She is survived by her spouse, Benito Arturo Duinkerk Sr.; daughter, Rashida Olive Duinkerk; sons: Benito Duinkerk Jr., Eddie Duinkerk and Baso Duinkerk; grandchildren: Kenrick Duinkerk, Makaida Duinkerk, Edmond Duinkerk, Nya Duinkerk, DeVinte Duinkerk, Elijah Duinkerk, Kamea Duinkerk and Kalea Duinkerk; and great-grandchildren: Ilias Bryson, Jaylin Duinkerk, Keith Duinkerk, Kenn Duinkerk and Kyon Duinkerk.

She is also survived by brothers: Vicente Fortuno, Lorenzo Fortuno and Edmond Fortuno; sister, Alma Arnell; aunt, Sylvanie Javois; uncle, Guillaume Gumbs; and nieces: Erica Lake-Emer, Johanna Fortuno, Shanouska Fortuno, Precilia Fortuno, Nuiveris Fortuno, Cathrine Fortuno, Sabrina Fortuno, Kimoy Fortuno, Naygeli Fortuno, and many others too numerous to mention.

Other survivors include nephews: Ricardo Arnell, Edmond Fortuno, Alvaro Fortuno, Terry Violenus, Xamine Violenus, Edrick Fortuno, Gabriel Fortuno, Erick Fortuno, Christopher Fortuno, Emanuel Fortuno, Emiliano Fortuno and many others too numerous to mention; cousins: Gwen Steele and many others too numerous to mention; in-laws: Dianne Duinkerk, Sara Duinkerk, the Lopes family brothers and sisters; and special friends: the Hansen family, the Aarndel family, Annette Evelyn, St. Claire Williams and Maxine Bass.

The first viewing will be held from 3-5 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 30, at Divine Funeral Home.

The second viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 1, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Barren Spot Hill. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
