Man Shot and Killed At Bar on St. Croix

A man was shot multiple times while at a bar on St. Croix Friday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Around 11:04 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center notified officers of reports of shots fired and later alerted that there was a gunshot victim on Queen and King Cross Street, Fredriksted, according to the police report.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds about his body. The victim was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance, where he was pronounced dead by the Emergency Room physician, the police report stated.

The victim was identified by his next of kin as 43-year-old Elijah Abdula Jackson, the report stated.

Investigation into this matter revealed that the victim was at a bar when he was approached by the assailant who shot him multiple times, police said.

Jackson’s death marks the 15th homicide for St. Croix and the 32nd for the territory, according to Source Homicide List.*

The investigation continues into this matter. Anyone with information on this homicide can
call 911, the CIB Tip Line at (340) 778-4950 or Crime Stopper V.I. at 1(800) 222-8477.

The Source Homicide List is a chronological log of the homicides recorded in 2023 in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as reported by the VIPD. Cases are broken down by island. While this listing is based on VIPD reports, the Source does not include suicides or vehicular homicides in its listing, which the police and some other media do. This can lead to a discrepancy in the number of incidents reported.
