Alejandrina P. Rodriguez Dies at 100

Alejandrina P. Rodriguez, also known as “Casita,” passed away at home in Christiansted on Monday, Sept. 18. She celebrated her 100th birthday on March 4 of this year. She will be greatly missed by all her loved ones. She was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister, friend and neighbor. Her life impacted everyone around her. Her faith in Jesus Christ was demonstrated by the way she loved, cared for, helped and prayed for others.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father: Pastora Carrasquillo Perez and Eladio Perez; her husband, Roberto Rodriguez; her son, Roberto “Rican” Rodriquez Jr.; sisters: Maria Nunez and Adelina Perez; brothers: Marcelino Perez, Eladio “Yayo” Perez, Virilo Perez and Marcial Perez.

She is survived by her daughter, Nydia I Rodriguez; grandsons: Ricardo “Ricky” Pasos, Alexander “Alex” Rodriguez, Roberto “Chino” Rodriguez and Miguel “Mickey” Rodriguez; great-grandchildren: Jaden I Pasos, Christopher N. Pasos, Christian E Pasos and Daniel A Pasos; sister, Esperanza Sanes; and nieces: Sue Haydee Perez, Jessica Perez Barone, Yvonne Belardo, Mryna Whitehead, Cynthia Tromp, Pastora Perez, Luz “Tuti” Rivera, Carmen Basilis, Olga Perez, Zaida Bare-Burns, Camilia Chisholm, Gloria Woods, Brenda Sanes, Leticia Buchanan and Andrea Lawrence.

She is also survived by nephews: Miguel Perez, Tito Perez, Mickey Perez, Rafael Perez, Alberto Perez, Peter Sanes, Oscar Tromp, Antonio “Tony” Whitehead and Tom Woods; great nieces: Natalie Teabo, Sharlene Hankins, Monica McDonald, Cindy Mcintyre and Yvonne Whitehead; great nephew, Oscar “Oscarcito” Tromp Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sonya Rivera; and sister-in-law, Lucy Perez.

Other survivors include special friends: Carmen Roman Perez, Hector Delgado, Antonio Delgado, Olga Torress, David Ortiz Olivero, Frank Bermudez, Sarita Bermudez, Pastor Beltane Harrigan, Debbie Harrigan, Pastor Cruz Taylor, Orlando and Annie Ramirez, Terry, Carmen and Gloria White, the entire Whitehead family, Pastor Dexter Skepple, Carlos Brown, Keturah Rosato, Dr. Luz Delgado, Sonia Carson, Mary Espinosa, and Millie and Olaf Henneman; and too many other family and friends to mention.

The first viewing for friends and family will be held from 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5 at James Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

The second viewing will take place at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, at Zion (United Brethren in Christ) Church in Christiansted. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
