Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on St. Thomas

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and died Friday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On Friday, a vehicle traveled on Rumar Drive and turned into the Lockhart Garden parking lot in the area of KMart. The operator of the vehicle attempted to park in a parking space but lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled through approximately four parking spaces. Along the way, the vehicle collided with several other vehicles, a cart return, and a pedestrian, according to the police report.

The pedestrian identified by family members, Lavern Liburd-Thompson succumbed to injuries sustained in this collision, the report stated.
