St. Thomas Man Arrested for Brandishing Firearm in Shopping Plaza

A St. Thomas man was arrested Sunday when VIPD officers were notified he was brandishing a firearm in a shopping plaza, the V.I. Police Department reported.

911 Call Center received a report that a Black male driving a gray Honda SUV had brandished a firearm and then placed the firearm inside the vehicle, according to the police report.

When the officers arrived at the scene at the Lima Shopping Plaza, they made contact with 39-year-old Jerome Jeffers and conducted a visual inspection of the vehicle he was operating. Officers observed marijuana and a firearm in plain view, the report stated.

Jeffers was placed under arrest and was charged with constructive possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and possession with intent to distribute.

His bail was set at $75,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of
Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
