OP Task Force Make Arrest on Outstanding Warrant

On Monday, April 25, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., members of the Operation Python Task Force, a VIPD-led Anti-Violent Crime Operation, were conducting an inspection in Cabrita Point, St. Thomas about a call of suspicious activity in that area which led to the arrest of Kareem Matthias.

During the inspection, the Task Force team members encountered a Black male wearing a black t-shirt and gray shorts. The individual was identified as 31-year-old Kareem Matthias. Matthias had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Magistrate Division of the Superior Court. Matthias was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance with intent, and delaying and obstructing.

Matthias was taken into custody by the OP Task Force team without incident. Bail was set at $10,000, and he could not place bail, so Mattias was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
