VITFF Gives Updates on Track and Field Competitions

Eddie Lovett opened his Indoor Season at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, S.C. Lovett competed in the 60m hurdles and won his heat in 7.88 seconds to qualify for the finals. He is working on qualifying for the Indoor World Athletic Championships for the U.S. Virgin Islands. The World Athletics Indoor Championships will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, from March 18 to March 20.

Mikaela Smith, a senior at Austin Peay State University, continued performing well in her 2022 Indoor season. Smith competed at the McCravy Memorial track and field meet in Lexington, Ky., on Jan. 28 and 29. Mikaela finished 1st in her heat in the 600m with a personal best of 1:34.99, and she finished 5th in her heat of the 800m in 2:15.72.

Smith will compete next in the Don Denoon Invitational in Carbondale, Ill.

Ursinus College Junior Rachel Conhoff continued her season at the Little Dip Invitational on Jan. 28. Rachel won the 800m in 2:24.09.

Rachel’s next track meet will be the D3 Invitational in New York, N.Y.

Kirra Lambert, Jolly Rogers TC, competed in the 3rd Developmental Meet at the St. Croix Educational Complex on Jan. 29. Lambert finished 1st in the U17 800m in 2:34.14 and 3rd in the 200m in 29.72.

Makari Matthew, Jolly Rogers TC, competed in the 3rd Developmental Meet at the St. Croix Educational Complex on Jan. 29. Matthew finished 1st in the U20 200m in 24.90 outrunning Dizon-Bumann on the line.  Dizon-Bumann finished 2nd in a time of 24.99. Dizon-Bumann also won the U20 800m in 2:00.18.

Mustang Akyra Joseph, St. Croix Track Club, competed in the 3rd Developmental Meet at the St. Croix Educational Complex on Jan. 29. Akyra won the U17 200m in 28.42.

Nathan Langley, Jolly Rogers TC, competed in the 3rd Developmental Meet at the St. Croix Educational Complex on Jan. 29. Nathan Langley finished 1st in the U17 800m in 2:15.95 and 1st in the U17 200m in 26.01.

Mustang Faith Eatmon, St. Croix Track Club, competed in the 3rd Developmental Meet at the St. Croix Educational Complex on Jan. 29. Faith won the U13 80m in 12.63 and also finished first in the U13 200m in 34.07.

Mustang Robert Ventura, St. Croix Track Club, competed in the 3rd Developmental Meet at the St. Croix Educational Complex on Jan. 29. Ventura won the U13 80m in 14.24; Gleason, Jolly Rogers Track Club, finished in 2nd place in 14.72. Ventura also finished 2nd in the U13 200m in 37.14.

Jordan Vaughn, St. Croix Track Club, competed in the 3rd Developmental Meet at the St. Croix Educational Complex on Jan. 29. Vaughn finished 1st in the U20 Discus with a throw of 20.26m.

Nicola Peters a sophomore at Sparkman High School competed in the Last Chance No. 2 2022 in Birmingham, Ala. Peters finished 7th overall in the 60m 8.05. This qualified her for the Alabama State Indoor Championships. She also competed in the 4*200m and 4*400m relays for her school. Their 4*200m finished 9th overall, and their 4*400m finished 7th,

Jerome “Jay” Swindell, a senior at Lawrenceville High School, competed in the New Jersey Prep Championships A 2022 on Jan. 30, 2022. Jay finished 2nd in the 55m with a time of 6.81 seconds.

Sofia Swindell, a freshman at the Lawrenceville School, competed in the New Jersey Prep Championships A 2022 on Jan. 30, 2022. Sofia won the 55m hurdles in 9.17 seconds and finished 2nd in the 200m with a 27.70
