Man Treated for Injury After Being Shot in Market Square

A man was treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center on Wednesday for a gunshot injury he received in Market Square, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At about 10:58 p.m. Feb. 3 the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to the hospital on a report of a gunshot victim.

The victim told officers he had been in the Market Square area with other individuals when an unknown male produced a firearm. The victim said he heard the sound of the firearm and recognized that he had been shot in his leg.

The victim, whose name was not released by police in accordance with department policy, was transported to the hospital via private vehicle for medical treatment, where he was listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a Black male in his 20s, slim built with a low-cut hairstyle, wearing a white T-shirt.

Detectives urged anyone with information about this incident to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5579, or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
