Police Investigating Attempted Robbery

An armed, masked man attempted to rob the Kentucky Fried Chicken in downtown Frederiksted Saturday, but fled the scene without taking any money, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police at about 10:15 a.m. Sunday, an employee of the KFC reported to police that an individual attempted to commit a robbery of the business the previous night.

The employee reported that while cleaning the restaurant after closing, at about 10 p.m. Nov. 28 while cleaning the restaurant after closure, she was approached by a Black male wearing a camouflage face mask, dark shirt and white slippers, pointing a silver gun at her. The suspect reportedly demanded money from the store.

The employee told the intruder that there was no money and the suspect fled the area without any cash.

Police urged anyone with information on the incident to call 911, the Crime TipLine at 340-778-4950, or the anonymous tip service Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS). Information to Crime Stoppers that results in a crime being solved can qualify the caller for an anonymous tip service.
