Virgin Islands Montessori School and Peter Gruber International Academy (VIMSIA), in partnership with the Virgin Islands Department of Health (DOH), offered rapid antigen testing to staff and students on Monday, Nov. 16. Nurses from DOH administered the Abbott Labs BinaxNOW(™) antigen test on campus.
VIMSIA was glad to participate in this testing event to explore alternative rapid testing methods for the community and the school. This event marks the third time VIMSIA has performed COVID-19 testing as a school.
Michael Bornn, head of school, said, “VIMSIA is committed to meticulous COVID-19 protocols, one of which is testing. We plan on testing on a regular basis until the risk of COVID-19 has ended. Scientists strongly believe testing is a vital part of mitigating the risk of COVID-19. I, therefore, strongly suggest that as many organizations as possible in the Virgin Islands develop testing protocols, especially our schools and athletic organizations.”
