Man Injured in Castle Coakley Shooting Incident

A Crucian man was treated for gunshot wounds at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital after being shot Monday morning on the Queen Mary Highway in the vicinity of Castle Coakley.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at about 10:13 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to the corner of Queen Mary Highway and Castle Coakley Road to a report of shots fired and a gunshot victim at the hospital.

The victim told police he had been on his way to a business in Castle Coakley when he heard shots being fired. He said he ran to the business for cover and realized he had been shot.

He was transported by private vehicle to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
