The V.I. Police Department arrested four men in two separate incidents last week and charged them with firearm offenses. Both incidents took place at routine traffic stops.
According to police:
– At 11:15 p.m. July 10 police arrested Devonte Anthony, age 19 of Sion Hill, K’mani Bruce, age 18 of Catherine’s Rest, and Nathan Warner, age 18 of Sion Farm, charging them with carrying a firearm openly or concealed, possession or sale of ammunition, and alteration of identifying marks of weapons.
While conducting a DUI checkpoint on Queen Mary Highway, in the vicinity of the Sion Farm Shopping Center, officers stopped on a vehicle being driven by Anthony. Bruce and Warner were passengers in the vehicle. During the stop, officers found a loaded firearm with an obliterated serial number. Each of the men denied owning the firearm, therefore the three were placed under arrest for having the firearm.
Bail for Anthony, Bruce, and Warner was set at $50,000 each. They were unable to post bail and were turned over to the custody of the bureau of corrections pending their advice of rights hearings.
– At 12:25 a.m. July 14, police arrested Eardley U. Pant, age 39 of Williams Delight, charging him with carrying a firearm openly or concealed.
While conducting a DUI checkpoint on Queen Mary Highway, in the vicinity of Villa La Reine, officers pulled over a vehicle being driven by Pant. During the traffic stop, Pant exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
Police said an unlicensed firearm was found along the waistline of Pant’s clothing, and he was arrested.
Bail for Pant was set at $50,000. He was unable to post bail and was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
